Catholic Civics | Instructor: Mr. John Niemann
Meets: Mondays 4:00 - 5:30pm
Description: This course is an intensive look at the function of government in the United States and the role that Catholics must play. In this election year, such wisdom is of particular importance. The Dobbs decision has altered the political landscape significantly, and now is the time for young Catholics to engage the political and cultural implications. To do so, they will need a firm grasp of the function of government, both as it is on paper and how it actually works behind the scenes. They will need to understand lobbying, election reform, appropriations, and executive orders. They will also need to be informed about their civil liberties and how to protect them. We will study the Constitution and Bill of Rights in detail and read significant statutory law as well as landmark Supreme Court decisions. Online participation possible.
Tuition: $250 / Semester
