Latin I | Mrs. Sibyl Niemann
Meets: Monday and Wednesday 3:00 - 4:00pm
Description: The Latin 1 course is designed to follow through approximately the first half of Wheelock's Latin and the accompanying 38 Latin Stories (currently about $18 and $19 respectively on Amazon). In the first year, course, students will learn the basics of Latin grammar and vocabulary (including noun declensions, verb conjugations, subject-verb and noun-adjective agreement, verb tense, mood and voice), and begin to translate and discuss important passages from classical Roman authors, the Scriptures, the Mass and the Church Fathers. A good prior knowledge of English grammar (parts of speech, parts of the sentence, etc.), as well as any previous Latin, would be extremely helpful, though not absolutely necessary. Successful completion of the course will require that students make time for the consistent, even daily, practice, memorization and drilling of Latin vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure and translating. No online option.
Tuition: $350 / semester
